THE CITY OF AUCKLAND.

The City of Auckland is almost ready for sea, her cargo is nearly all stowed, and this morning her sails were bent. We have to congratulate Captain Ashby on the celerity with whichhe has discharged his inward cargo and received and stowed the outward one. The City arrived in Auckland harbor on the afternoon ot tho 18th December. She hauled alongside the wharf next day, and commencbd discharging. This was completed in tour days. She has now on board one o, ►*&! most valuable cargoes that has ever left our port. For the promptitude and dispatch in which it has been sent alongside and taken on board, great credit is due, not only to Captain Ashby, but also to the agents, Messrs Cruickshank, bmart and Co, who in their business like exertions can fairly compete with any London shipbrokers. The short stay of Captain Ashby with his vessel in oar waters will m some measure compensate him for his tedious sojourn last voyage, resulting from the serious acccident that happened to his ship. We wish Capt. Ashby, his lady, and his officers, a pleasant and speedy passage home, and long may he live to grace our waters with his trim vessel, and to enliven the monotony of our ways with his cheerful countenance, The City of Auckland will complete her loading to-morrow, on which day passengers are required to be all on board. She will haul away from tho wharf to-morrow night or Thursday mornino- and sails, wind and weather permitting, on°that day. And so God send the good ship to her desired port in safety. The following is the list of passengers who have engaged berths by her : —
