THE THAMES REGATTA.
The Regatta yesterday was a great success. The weather was fine, and a good stiff breeze blowing — a great advantage to sailing boats, though detrimental to the rowing boats. The sports commenced at 11 o'clock, and were continued with unflagging zeal till late in the afternoon. The first event, a sailing race between open boats for a prize of £<l,"was won by Minnetti and Hero 2. The sailing race between boats or yachts for a £10 prize was won by Galatea, with Ripple second. A fouroared amateur gig race, for a prize of £10, was won by Colonist, with Hopkins Newdick, Keane, Henderson, and Oxley (coxswain), for her crew. The sailing race for licensed watermen's boats, for £5 prize, was won by Fiery Cross, Annie seeoad.
