MEETING OF SHAREBROKERS.
A 3IKETING of sharehrokci-s was held this afternoon, at the olllee of Mr. Tonson Garlick. The meeting was lirgely attended. The object of the meeting was to consider the new hill relating to sharebrokera, now before the. House of Assembly. Mr. Samuel Viekers was elected to the chair. Air. Yens _ G-ailick acted as secretary. Mr. Eogan, at the request of the Chairman, read the draft of the bill: the meeting then proceeded to discuss each clause of tho hill, with a view to make proposals and suggesiions for the various alterations, hi clause 2, a suggestion for an a edition to the clause, consisting of unincorporated companies as well as incorporated companies. This was adopted by the meeting. Some discussion took phic-3 in reference to auctioneers being privileged to sell shares by auction in their usual way of business. They were allowed to sell by auction, but not.by private contract. In clause 6, that sharebrokers shall not be ailowcel to sell on their own account, Mr. Da. Moulin moved that share brokers should not be permitted to buy or sell shares on their own account except ihrough another broker. After some discussion die motion was carried. In clause 7 compelling the broker to yive a written contract, it was suggested by Mr. Aitken that the word" if requested " be iu-erted, this was agreed to. I'hs other cltuues were all passed intact by the meeting. [The meeting was proceeding when our reporter left.]
