Diojnkenness. — Four persons, for; first oti'once were ordered each to pay a fine ot 10s. and costs, with tho usual alternative of imprisonment. One forfeited his bail j two", for second offences, woro fined 20s. and costs, or forty-eight hours', imprisonment; and one, for a third offeuoe,. was sent to gaol for seven days.

Assault.— James O'Connor was chargod by David Kelly with striking him on tho mouth with his clenched fist. — Prisoner pleaded guilty of " shoving" cpmplainant, but not of striking him.—As tho assault ''appeared tobe a trivial one, arising out of eomo difference between the parties, who wore both shoeblacks, defondant was ordered to pay a fine of one shilling and costs.

Bowdeu appoared, on remand, to answer a chnrgo; of being tho occupier of a bouse in Wakefieldstrcct frequented by persons having no visible and lawful means of support.—Mr. Inspector Broham informed His Worship that tho young man had but recently arrived in the colony, and had been more sinned against than Binning, and ho hnd no doubt that if the charge were withdrawn ho would bo more careful in future.—His Worship auquießeed in that view of the mutter, aud, informed defendant that if ho would find' two. sureties for £20 each, and enter into his own recognizance for £40 to be of good behaviour; for three months, tho ease would bo struokoff tho list.
