HARBOUR BOARD.
The fortnightly meeting was hold yesterday. Present: W. 0. Daidy, Esq., chairman; Messrs. Anderson, Casey, Jones, Tonka, Jon der Heyde, Nathan, Philipß, and Smart. "Minutes of last meeting read.—A letter was thea read and received" from Allan O'Neill, Esq., North. Shore, forwarding seal of late Board.—On the motion of: Messrs. Tonks and Anderepn, the thanks of the Board were returned:-to-Allan O'Neill, and,on the motion of Mr. S. Jones this was ordered to b'e\the seal-of-tie Board. —A letter from Mr. G. P. Pierce,-in reference to premises, was read.—On the motion of Mr. Tonks, it was resolved that the renewal of premises could not be accepted. —A letter from W. 0. Wilson, Esq., resigning hia membership, was read and received. —A letter from the Secretary of the Chamber of- Commerce, accepting the offer of office accommodation, was read and received. —A letter from the receivers on the wharf was read, asking for more accommodation for their business — trucks, crowbars, tarpaulings, &c, —and suggesting that the iron store at the end of vthe wbarf be set apart for this purpose. The letter was read, and ordered to be considered at a future meeting.—A letter from the Provincial Secretary was read, stating that a copy of the Provincial gazettes would be forwarded to the Board, also a letter inclosing a statement of accounts of the Harbour Trust; also a letter from the Under-Secretary, stating that the Board would be furnished with copies of the Q-eneral gazette.—A letter from the Harbour-master at Port Chalmers was read, enclosing pilot regulations and forms in use at that port.—A letter from the Harbourmaster at Wellingson was read, enclosing copy of the harbour regulations for that port. —The minutes of the House Committee and the the Wharf Committee were read and confirmed.—Accounts to the amount of f-9i 11s. were ordered to be paid.—The Treasurer Btated that there was now in the bank a sum of £1254 Is. 4d., out of which the above accounts were to bo paid, leading a balance in hand of £1159 10s. 4d.—Tenders for ironwork and timber were opened, and that of Mr. Inglis for ironwork was accepted, provided spikes and nails were included ; and that of Mr. Holdship for timber was also accepted. —• Captain Casey withdrew his notice of motion as to asking the Colonial Engineer to report on the harbour.
Notices of Motion.—The following notices of motion were given j—Mr. Tonka to move, "That the Board proceed to elect a member in place of Mr. W. C. Wilson resigned,; in term of section 14, Auckland Harbour Board Act."—Mr. B. Tonks to more, " That the Wharf Committee be requested to confer with the Borough Council, or a committee thereof, with a view to devise means for abating the nuisance caused by the main sewer."—Mr. GL Yon der Heydo to move, " That the regulations with reference to charging of wharfage on tonnage be taken into consideration of the Board."— Mr. Philips to move, " That it is desirable that one allotment on Custom House Breakwater Road be set asido and fenced in for the convenience of the natives bringing produce into the harbour, on the condition that the natives undertake to keep the same in clean condition." —Mr. Philips to move, on next sitting day, " That the wharfinger furnish this Hoard with a return of all vessels plying within this harbour which pay- wharfage dues, and the amounts paid by ' same for last quarter."—Mr. Smart to move, on Hext sitting day, " That the wharfinger furnish this Board with a list of all the offices on the Queen-street Wharf, and on the T's abutting to same, names of the occupiers, distinguishing 'those who pay rent'and those who do not."
