WANGANUI.
July 14. —The head chief at Otaki has called upon all tribes interested in the disputed Horowhenua land question to assemble at Otaki, and discuss the matter. From the tenor of his communication there appears to be imminent probability of all the tribes on the coast being involved in the dispute. The Otaki tribes wish for >an amicable settlement; otherwise, war to the knife. July 17. — The Waugachu Hotel was totally destroyed by fire on Sunday night. A man named Peter Finn was burnt to death. — The building was insured iv the New Zealand Insurance Company for £400 ; the stock and furniture in the Victorian for £250. —There is a terrific gale blowing.
