PRINCE OF WALES THEATRE.
Amongst the many plays which have emanated from the prolific pea of that talented author, Mr. Thomas Taylor, none perhaps ranks higher for interest in plot aad completeness in detail than his prize comedy in three acts entitled " The Overland lioute," and which was produced in a most creditable manner last'evening at the above Theatre. The first and second act take place on board the Simoon, and the last on a coral reef, upon which the vessel has been wrecked. The cast was a powerful one, including the whole strength of the company, and when "the welcome steamer appeared in sight to rescue the different characters from their perilous position, the hearty applause of the audience testified their thorough appreciation of the play. Our space will not allow us to enter into a detail of the plot, but we can confidently recommend the patrons of the drama to go and judge for themselves. Miss Florence Oolville, Mrs. B. N. Jones, Miss Eaymond, and Mrs. Byan supported the principal female characters, and Messrs. Jtf oskins, Hydes, Jones, Ityan, Clinton, Glover, Booth, Starke, and McCabe the principal male parts. There was also a first appearance of Mr. J. Thorpe, who in the subordinate character of a serving man, acquitted himself in a promising and satisfactory manner. Of course the attraction of the evening centred'in the bright particular stars, Miss Colville and Mr. H oskins, though J. P. Hydes and his comicalities kept the house in a roar whenever he appeared. The musical selections of the orchestra were very good, the selection from Lucrezia Borgia, with the oboe solo accompaniment being particnlnrly so, whilst the scenery by Mr. Varley was entirely new, and quite appropriate. The piece will be repeated this 1 evening, and should draw.
