Wo observe that^Mrs. Colclough, (" Polly Plum") is to lecture on Monday evening next, at the City Hall, on the "Education of Females." We shall refer to the subject on another occasion. We yestorduy afternoon received the telegram from the Thames announcing the rich find of specimens at an hour too late for insertion in the Stab. Wo immediately, however, ported it in the window of the office, and as the first drops of the shower now descending on the " Caledoniuns," it caused great excitement. Tenders are required by Messrs. Henderson and Macfarlane for printing all shipping document forms used by the 0.8., N.Z. and A.M. S.S. Lice. The transfer books of Kelly's Gold Mining Company will bo finally closed to-day. An inquest was held at the Lunatic Asylum yesterday afternoon, before Dr. Goldsboro, coroner, upon the body of Vernal Chilcott, an inmate, who died on Saturday. The inquest was a purely formal matter. A verdict of " death from natural causes" was returned.
