"THE ECHOES FROM THE WHAU."

We have received and perused the " Echoes from the Whau." They are the professed production of a " Brace of Lunatics." There is method, however, in their madness, and some of the Echoes, with their quaint illustrations, are genuinely comic. The frontispiece is excruciating. It represents the lunatics in their cups, and under the potent influences inditing the "Echoes"—

There are two old men at the \Vhau, Who make to the public their bow ; They draw awful pictures, And they write horrid strictures These foolish old men of the Whuu.

Decidedly the gem of the brochure is " The Awful Moa." The incidents in his primeval history are graphically told, and the illustration representing his gobbling up of Maoris is irresistibly funny.

Who picked up little Maori boys As hens pick corn, with tapping noise, Closing their little dusky joys ?—■

The Moa! Who stood twelve feet without his boots ? Who collared boys and grubbed for roots ? Who didn't care for mild cheroots ?-— The Moa!

We commend the production to those interested in the pathology of madness ; and, by order of the unhappy individuals whose wierd words are therein contained, we are commanded to supply copies to all Her Majesty's subjects at the price of One shilling.
