MUTUAL MINING- INVESTMENT COMPANY.
Last night there was a meeting of intending shareholders in this company held at the Army and Navy Hotel, the business beiDg to receive the draft of the deed of association, which was examined in detail under the guidance of Mr. Rawlinson, for Messrs. Hesketh and Richmond. There was a very large attendance, Mr. Luscombe being in the chair; and a strong desire was evinced by all to guard against the company embarking in risky ventures. Among other things the directors were prevented from investing in the shares of any save dividend-paying claims and those of claims immediately adjoining. The company having been projected expressly for the benefit of .those of limited means, but, desirous of sharing in the benefits of the present golden harvest, it is intended that such savings shall be guarded in every way possible from being lost, and that the possibility of " calls " shall be utterly removed. The system of payment for shares, as we have previously shown, is by weekly instalments of 5s ncr share, until these sums and the profits accruing shall have paid up the total nmount of £10 per share. Mr. Williams, whose office is at the corner of Queen and West Queen-streets, is the legal manager, with whom, during the week, after .Monday at noon, shareholders can enrol themselves and pay the first instalments.
