POLICE COURT.-Saturday.
[Before Thomas Beckham, Esq., Eesident Magistrate.]
Drunkenness.—-James Wallace, for a first offence, was fined 10s. and costs, or to be imprisoned 48 hours with hard labour.
Larceny.—Thomas Burris and F. Roach were charged with having stolen a lot of gum, the property of Frederick R. Ford, of the value of 705., and was further charged with having stolen another lot the value of 75., from the same person. Both cases were remanded till Monday.
Stealing erom a Dwelling.—The case of Thomas Brown, on remind, charged with having stolen from the preaises of James Woodward, of the Whau, bacon to the value of £6, was further proceeded with.—Mr. Joy for the d. fence.—Detective Ternahan deposed that he arrested the prisoner on the 27th ultimo; that he had previously traced him for thirty miles beyond Waikakerei in October last, from information then received; but had not been able to effect the arrest sooner.—Mr. Joy addressed the Court for the defence.—The prisoner was committed for trial.
