RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.—Friday.
(Before Thomas Beckham, Esq., R.M.) Judgments foe Plaintiffs.—W. G-ourlay t. E. Jeffcoat, claim £5 6s. 3d.; John Pelley v. Jeffcoat, claim £3 9s. 4d.; J. Williama v. W. Burton, claim £2 ; Weaving v. J. Colgan; Wyatt v. Playter. Judgment summons warrant ordered to be issued. Defended Cases.—Mack v. Phillips.—Mr. Wynn for the defendant, and Mr. Thome for the plaintiff.—Plaintiff did not appear, and the -case was struck out. —Solomon Hart t. G-arrefct, claim £5, for damages done to. a cow.—Mr. J. B. Russell appeared for the plaintiff; and Mr. Wynn for the defendant.—The facts of the case are shortly these : —The son of the plaintiff was driving a number of cows near Mount Eden, when the defendant, who was driving an express, ran over two of them. One of the cows was knocked down and run over, and plaintiff alleged that the supply of milk from the cow was afterwards stopped and tho cow injured to the extent of £5. Several witnesses were called on both sides, after which the learned gentlemen engaged in the case addressed the Bench. —Judgment for the defendant, without costs. Foley v. Poetee.—Mr. Wjnn appeared for the plaintiff, arid Mr. Brookfield for the defendant.—On the motion of Mr. Brookfield the case was ordered to stand adjourned until next Court day, in order that the bill of particulars might be produced. This was all the business, and the Court rose.
