We observe that the Artillery Band, in their march with the Southern Volunteers this afternoon, wore their new uniforms, which have been Tery tastefully manufactured by Mr. James Camp, tailor, of Queenstreet.
A special meeting of the members of the pity Board was held at 11 o'clock this morning, when the accounts for the last month were ordered to be paid. No other business was transacted.
An incident occurred last evening in Queenstreet which shews the necessity of a more efficient system of police patrol in the city. A gentleman waiting home with his wife was addresseA in a most insolent manner by an individual partly intoxicated, who persisted in following them. Being anxious to aroid a quarrel, the gentleman thus addressed would have given the man in charge, but no policeman could be got, so that when ifc was impassible to get rid of the man, and his abusive language was followed up by personal assault, there was no alternative but for the aggrieved party to administer a chastisement, which he did in such a fashion as to teach a salutary lesson to such ruffians not to presume on the absence of a policeman to indulge in gratuitous abuse.
To-morrow evening the Rev. C. H. Brojke will deliver an address at St. Sepulchre's Church. Subject: " Melanesia."
