NEWTON NOMINATION.

RETURN OF MR. SWANSON.

A. meeting of the electors for the nomination of candidates for the representation of Newton was. held to-day in the iNewton Academy. There were about fifty persons present. Colonel Balueavis read the writ and called for the nomination of candidates. Mr. William Swanson, Mr. Cherry, and Mr. Eastwood were proposed. Mr. Swanson spoke at considerable length, and the other two cand; dates were addressing those of the electors i"emaiuing as we went to press. The feelings of those present were evidently in favour of Mr. Swanson, the nomination of the two others being generally regarded as a farce.
