T. M. Machattie. —Mr. Sheehan appeared in support of the application; Mr. Hesketh appeared to watch the case on behalf of John Lamb. —John Lamb deposed : I have made a proof of debt against Machattie's estate for £823 14s. That amount is justly due from Machattie to myself. I produce the promis sory note from myself to Machattie., who gave me his acknowledgement that it was for his accommodation that the bill was drawn, and that he was to retire it when due. The witness was subjected to a long examination on the nature of his transactions with the bankrupt. Tho particulars are of no general public interest. The Court adjourned for half an hour.
POLICE COURT.—Feiday, (Before J. O'Neill, Esq., J. P.)
Impounding- Act.—W. Powley, for allowing a horse to wander in a public place, was fined 5s and costs.
Municipal Police Act.—Denis Brett, for not having his name on his dray, was fined 5s and costs.
Licensing- Act.—W. Dudley, pleading guilty to not having had his lamp lighted outside his hotel, and was fined Is and costs.
Steat-tng- pbom a Dwemjng. -Thomas Curtis was charged with breaking into the dwelling-house of B. McDonald, and stealing therefrom a gold watcli and other articles. Bemanded till Monday.
Thbeatening Language.—Aim Crouin was charged by Joanna Murphy with using abusive language. Mr. Macgregor for the prosecution. . Complainant deposed to the circumstances, •which were of the ordinary kind in a woman's family feud. Defendant going into the box, fully admitted the accusation, with additions. Ordered to find security in £10 to keep the peace for three monthi.
