YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION.
The second and last musical and literary entertainment for the season, in aid of the library fund of the above institution, took place last evening—W. L. Rees, Esq., in the chair. The musical portion of the proceedings received due justice at the hands of Ma<lame Moller, Miss Edger, and Messrs. Brett, Howden, and Henderson. Where all did so well it is unnecessary to particularise. Several encores were demanded, and gracefully responded to. The literary portion of the entertainment was us 'follows :—" A Tale of the Li"ht Brigade," Mr. T. L. White; "Cutting Weather," Mr. "P. a. Ewington; "The! Victim of Misplaced Confidence," Mr. White ; and, in response to an encore, " Pastor MeKnock's Address ;" and " The Wonderfu' Wean," Mr. Gr. M. Main. There was a good attendance on the oeca-<ion ; and, if one may judge from the hearty applause evinced by the audience, the several performers had succeeded in their enbris to afford amuse'menfc and pleasure. Vpi.es of thanks having been given to the choir, &c, and the chairman, the evening's proceed, ngs were brought to vl close by siting tlio National Anthem. The proceeds of these entertainments will enable the Committee of the Young Men's Christian Association to phice a much needed contribution of literature on the nhelves of the library. Much still is needed to be done in that line; the Committee, however, are determined to avoid getting into debt, aivl while desirous of meeting the° public demands, will only go so fur as public patronage will justify them.
