ONEHUNGA.
In the Resident Magistrate's Court, on Wednesday, before Captain Symonds, R.M., the following caßes were heard : — Civil Cases.—Garmonsway v. Schmidt : Claim, £2 for wages in lieu of notice.—Mr. Beveridge appeared for defendant. —Plaintiff proved that defendant engaged him as a journeyman baker by the week, at £2. He worked for twelve days, for which defendant paid.—Defendant denied engaging plaintiff with any stipulation as to a week's notice. — Plaintiff was nonsuited, with costs. — Mantell v. J*. Lundon, claim £19 6d, adjourned from last Court-day.—Mr. Beveridge for plaintiff;.. Mr. Sheehan for defendant. The costs of the adjournment not having been paid into Court, Mr. Beveridge raised an objection to the case going on, but on Mr. Lundon giving an undertaking that these coats should be paid, Mr. Beveridge waived his objection.—Mr. Sheehan here came into Court and appeared for defendant, and raised the objection of the bill of particulars having no dates.—ln reply, Mr. Beveridge argued that this objection should, have been raised when the case was in Court on the previous occasion.—The defendant then applied for an adjournment.—Mr. Sheehan, on behalf of defendant, consented to a judgment for plaintiff, with costs, £4 14s.—J. H. Symonds v. Phillips, claim 9s, for use of a sofa. —There was a cross action between the same parties, for £1 17s 61, including store rent of the same sofa. —His Worship said he had seen a good many singular cases brought into Court, but this was the most extraordinary one he had ever met with. —Both plaintiffs were nonsuited.
