Breadstuff's are firmer ; flour, £12 to £15 ; maize is harder at 3s lOd; wheat is scarce; o.its dull at 3s 2d. Speculations are going on in brandies. Candles are firm at lOjd.
The Triton, a Norwegian brig, has arrived and been placed in quarantine.
The Government has decided to enrol twenty artillerymen at five shillings per day, and also to put the ordnance in thorough repair. They will lodge the volunteers in the barracks, find call out the militia and naval brigade, which is converted into a royal naval reserve.
Edward Marwood Elton, a waiter, and formerly employed. at Gartou's Hotel, has murdered his illegitimate son, only two years of age. He has been found guilty and committed for trial.
