WELLINGTON. The Government p.s. Luna, Capt. Fairchild, arrired in the Manukau la9t night frotn Wellington, after a rapid passage, bringing as passengers—The Hon. J. Vogel, Mujor and Mrs. Heaphy, the Hon. Vivian, Mr. E. Fox, Mr. W. Mitchell, and Mr. H. H. Manning. We have received Wellington papers to the 17th instant, from which we make the following extracts: — The s.s. Lord Ashley left Wellington on the 16th instant. She would leave Napier on Ilio following evening, arriving at Tauranga yesterday. She may be expected here to-morrow. The s.s. Airedale, with the Californian mail, arrived at Wellington on the 16th, and proceeded South the same day, arriving at Lyttelton on Saturday last. The s.s. Wan»anui left Wellington for Wanganui, on Friday last. The Storm bird arrived at Wellington on the 15th, from Nelson. Mks. Hobeet Heir. —We are glad to observe, says the Independent, that Sir. and Mrs. Darrell have made arrangements with the company who are at present using the Odd Fellows' Hall to play with them. The engagement is for six nights only. They will make their first apperance on Monday next in the great original drama, ".Black Sheep," which had such extraordinary runs in England and Australia.

On Satin-day last Wellington was declared a borough, under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1867. Fatal Accident. — George Young was thrown from his horse on the Ferry Eoad, Canterbury, on Monday last, inflicting a severe injury on his head, which caused his death on the following morning. A Suicide in Otago.—A Duuedin paper says a wuggoner named Wrn. Colgan, hanged himself on the 21st ult. to the roof of his waggon. He had a load of goods on and got stuck on the road.

The s.s. Taranaki arrived at the Bluff on the 15 th inst.
