LECTURE ON THE AMERICAN
Last evening a lecture was'delivered by Mr. J. J. Neave (of the Society of Friends), at the rooms of the Young Men's Christian Association, in aid of the funds of the Sunday School Union. The title of the lecture was " Incidents of a visit to America during the war." There was a / yery good attendance, and the: lecture-;-w!hion'embraced Jinuch of the personal life of Mr. Neave during a trip which he paid to America during the war —Was listened to attentively. Many of the incidents described were of a very interesting character, and some peculiar traits of the members of the Society of -Friends were mentioned,; and dwelt upon; at considerable length; '■ - J
At the conclusion of the lecture, on the motion of Mr. Smith, a cordial vote of thanks was passed to Mr. Neave. It was also stated that he would deliver another lecture next Friday, instead of Dr. Hector (who will not be. able to do so), the subject being "!A visit in tne missionary ship John Williams, to the stations of the South Pacific."
