ACCIDENT AT PARNELL.
An accident occurred shortly after six o'clock last evening, which :was very nearly being attended with the most serious consequences. A party of two ladies and two gentlemen were in one of Crowther's carriages, which was coming down the hill from Parnell Rise towards the saw miUs.- ' One of the ladies was driving: Oh' nearing'the fence at the turn of the road, the horses started off at a furious pace, making directly for the fence, which they smashed in, but most providentially they were pulled up at the very edge of the cliff, and only in time to prevent the carriage and its occupants from being toppled over on to the beach below'.1. As may easily be imagined, the whole party received a severe fright, and : the horses were cut a good deal about, the front and legs. The shafts were broken, and the harness also carried away in several places. With the assistance of the bystanders, matters were soon put ship-shape again, and the carriage was sent home to Mr. Crowthcr, in charge of a man named Peters.
