OKAIN'S BAY ROAD BOARD.

A meeting of this Board was held on the 25th inst. Present—Messrs J. E. Thacker (Chairman), J. B. Barker, H. Bennett, and T. Oldridge. The minutes of previone meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was read—From Mr W. Barnett, re damage done to his land through stoppage to drain. The Clerk was instructed to notify to Mr Barnett that Mr Oldridge would see te the matter. From Mr Connon, Little Akaloa, re contemplated clearing of drain in front of his hotel. Resolved—" That Mr Connon's attention be drawn to Licensing Act for 1881, whereby he is required to keep that portion of road in repair." Mr Bennett was asked to make inquiries re cost of a light crane for Little Akaloa Jetty. A petition asking the Board to open up a new line of road from Le Bon's road to Summit was before the Board. The Clork was ordered to inform the petitioners that no funds were available. Tue Chairman stated that Mr J. Moore had declined to sign specifications for repairs to Okain's Main Valley road, and had given up the contract. Resolved—" That this work be held over for the present." The following tenders were opened :—For Little Akaloa cow road, clearing slips, &c.—T. Mclntosh, £24 10s, James Waghorn £25, Henry Waghorn £18, B. Waghorn £20, David Waghorn £22 10s. H. Wagborn's tender was accepted. Clearing Little Akaloa Main Valley Road of slips, &c— H. J. Mclntosh £38, J. Marshall £31, A. H. Mclntosh £30, D. Rogers £35, T. Mclntosh £18. T. Mclntosh's tender was accepted. The following accounts were passed for payment:—Mrßendt Jorpensen (progress payment on Le Bon's Bridge contract) £20, do (for repairs to small bridges) £5 7b 9d. H. C. Jaeobson (printing, &c.) £6 7s Gd, Clork, stamps, stationery, &c, £1 18h, Mclntosh and Brown (days' work) £5 19s, Returning Officer's fees £6 6s. Mr Ware applied for a progress payment on his bridge contract, but it wae found that there were no available funds. The Chairman, who hnd been appointed to report on Mr Ware's Litlle Okftin's road contract, stated that he found the nai<l road not dune, iiccotding to specification. Resolved— ,1 That the balance of £10 due on this work be not paid till the specification be carried out
