HIGH SCHOOL REVENUE.

To the Editor,

Sir, —I am deeply interested in the success of the Akaroa High/ School, and am peculiarly anxious to ganier all possible information regarding it. I gather from what I havo been told, that certain reserves havo been, or are to bo, allocated to each High School to assist its maintenance. It seems that in the first place these reserves were set apart for secondary education, and as each High School was established, a portion of them were given to it, the remainder being , unalloted. Now, as it is evident that the existing High Schools having only been drawing revenue from the reserves specially allocated for their use, I should like to know what has becomo of the revenue from tho hitherto unailoted reserves, For instance, Akaroa High School either has, or will shortly, have special reserves granted to it. Now, these reserves must have been producing revenue for years, and as no other High School could touch them, they only drawing an income from their own particular reserves, what has become of this money? I should hardly think it could be considered a part of the General Government revenue, and certainly no Educational Institution that I am aware of, has any right to it. I cannot help thinking Mr Editor, that the past revenues from these reserves ought to go to the body to whom they are eventually allocated, for 1 see no ono els 9 who has the slightest right to them. 1 hope our worthy member, who has taken such a deep interest, not only in the establishment of this High School, but in Educational matters generally, will reply to this letter, for no doubt he thoroughly understands the case. Perhaps also some members of the High School Board will kindly give us their opinions on the subject through the medium of your valuable columns.—Yours, etc., A PARENT DEEPLY INTERESTED.
