AKAROA AND WAINUI ROAD BOARD.
Saturday, July 30.
A meeting of this Board was. held on the above date at their offices, Duvauchelle's Bay. Present —Messrs Chappoll (in the chair), Williams and Shadbolt. INTERVIEWS. In answer to inquiry, Mr W. McKay was informed that the only drawback to opening the road through Rhodes' Flat was the want of funds. Mr J. Bullock, contractor for the maintenance of the Wainui Road, asked for some consideration from the Board in carrying out his contract. Having put his request into writing, certain conceswero were agreed to by the Board. |CORRESPONDENCE. The Robinson's Bay School Committee asked for some repairs to a culvert near their School. The Clerk was instructed to have the work done. Mr W G. Inman wrote asking to have his eale plan returned. Ordered to be attended to. Mr David Le Comto asked for the grass seed on the Little River Road and Summit Road. Request declined. The Chief Surveyor wrote giving information as to Crown-granted sections in the Wainui Pass road. Resolved to ask the consent of the trustees of the late Thomas Turner to taking a road through section 10,642, on terms Mr Montgomery, M.H.R., wrote to say. that in answer to enquiries he had discovered that the difficulty in taking land for the French Farm Valley road was caused by the Board not- having taken steps to close the old road, The clerk was instructed to write, asking for the return of all documents connected with the matter. Mr H. Piper wrote declining to withdraw his resignation as member of the Board, and instructions were given for an election to fill the vacancy. Tho Survey Office forwarded a plan showing the northern boundary of the borough of Akaroa. The Clerk brought up a report on the various roads. The Board resolved to offer the work on the Onuku road to the former tenderers seriatim. Failing their acceptance fresh tenders to. be called. The remainder ef the business was purely formal, and the Board adjourned till Saturday, August 27.
