LICENSING COURT.

♦ Tho Licensing Court for the districts within tbe Borough and County of Akaroa was held on Tuesday last, the Commissioners present being Justin Ayliner Esq., R.M., G. 11. Saxton and W. B. Tosswiil Esqs. The following licenses were renewed without remark, the police having no objections to make:— HOTEL LICENSES. R. Bayley, Waeckerle's Hotel, B. J. W. Chamberlain, Wagstaff's Hotel,* B. Glew, Criterion Hotel, T. Grange, Bruce's Hote', j A. Rodrigues, Madeira Hotel, all in Akaroa, and T. Brooks, Somerset Hotel, Head of the Bay. CONDITIONAL. Thomas Connon, Little Akaloa Hotel, G. F. Wascoe, Beach Arms, Lake Elles--1 mere. G. Jackson, Garwood's House, Hilltop. . In this case there was no formal complaint, i The Chairman stated that the Court had, ■ however, had complaints as to a bad supply of liquors. They did not refer to the quality but to a want of variety. The . licensee promised that he would keep up I tbe supply for the future, and the license I was granted. John Olphert, Forsyth Arms, Little River. In this caso the police reported that there had been certain disturbances at the house owing to family jars. For some time past, however, things had been going on better. License granted, the licensee promising that such should not occur again. WINE AND- BEER LICENSE. H. Firmston had put in an application i for a license of this description at Pigeon ■ Bay. He now asked leave to withdraw , the application. Withdrawn accordingly. The Court then adjourned.
