WOOL. SHEEPSKINS, FAT. HIDES, AND TALLOW REPORT.
Messis 11. Matson and Co. report:—On Thursday at our Canterbury Wool Stores, we held our usual weekly sale of the above. There was an average attendance of fell mongers, and great activity was displayed in tho biddings for the various lots. Our catalogue consisted of 2098 sheepskins, 128 bags rough fat, 72 hides and calfskins, and several bags, packages, and casks of tallow, all of which were disposed of at the following quotations, viz.:—Butchers' best cross-bred skins made 3s 4d to 3s lOd each : second quality, 2s 4d to 3s 3d each ; medium, ls Gd to 2. 3d each ; butchers' best merino skins, 3d to 2s 9d each ; second quality, Is 3d to 2s 2d ; medium, lOd to Is 7d each ; inferior skins, either cross-bred or merino, dry and early shorn, 2d, 4d, Gl, to 101 each ; butchers' rough fat, .dry and well saved made 2f I to 2£d per lb ; second quality, 2£d to 2£ I ; me dbun, l£d to 2d per lb ; inferior, none on offer ; hides, 4 I per lb ; damaged hides. 2£d per lb ; calfskins, 4d per lb ; tabow in cask, to 19s per cwt; do in bagd and packages, 2d to 2£ 1 per lb.
