AKAROA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

A special meeting of this Council was held last evening, at half-past seven. Present—His Worship tbe Mayor (in the chair), Crs Noonan, Gutberlet, Sunckell. Cullen, Chamberlain, Black, Bruce, aud MeG regor.

The Town Clerk read tbe resolution of the Council directing the calling of the meeting, which was convened for the purpose of taking into consideration the steps to he taken with regard to the wharves.

The Mayor read some suggestions as to certain altered arrangements of store and wharf made by the present wharfinger, after which

Cr Chamberlain proposed that a committee be appointed to enquire into the whole matter, and report to an eirly meeting of the Council.

By further resolution it was agreed that the Mayor be one member of the said committee, and that three others be elected by ballot.

A ballot having been taken, the following councillors were declared to be elected:—Crs Black, Bruce, and Noonan. The meeting then adjourned.
