PIGEON BAY ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Board was held in the Board's office on Saturday, April 2, 1881. Present—Messrs Hay (Chairman), Pitcaithly, and Pettigrew.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
The report of the deputation appointed at last meeting to wait upon Mr Holmes re diversion of road through Holmes Bay, with the letter and plans from Mr Holmes were first considered. The Board on the motion of Mr Pettigrew, seconded by Mr Pitcaithly, deterred full consideration of the matter till next meeting, when all the members might he present. Tho Clerk was instructed to write to Mr Holmes to this effect, and request liberty to retain the plans till after said meeting.
The members delegated to inspect Mr Hunt's road reported, and, on the motion of Mr Pettigrew, seconded by Mr Pitcaithly, tbe Clerk was directed to inform him that as the Board was not in funds, the work could not be undertaken at present. CORRESPONDENCE. Letters were read— From Mr Holmes re diversion of road through Holmes Bay already referred to. From Mr H. Firmston, requesting permission to enlarge present refreshment place at the jetty. The. Chairman was authorised to arrange the matter with Mr Firmston. From Mr Patson sen., re road at his place. ' The Clerk was directed to inform him that the matter would be attended to as soon as the labor could be commanded. From the Manawatu County Council with circular soliciting the cooperation of the Board in an endeavor to obtain certain concessions from Government. From the Assessor, enclosing his account which was passed for payment. From Messrs Wiggins and Co., enclosing account. Left over till some enquiry could bo made regarding it. . ROAD .fORKS. It was decided by tfie Board, that the repairs to be effectld on Paton's roa. and Kay's gully road should be by day labor under the supervision of Mr W. Smith, surfaceman. After consideration of the above, the Board adjourned.
