WOOL, SHEEPSKINS, HIDES AND TALLOW REPORT.

Messrs 11. Matson arid Co. report:—On Thursday, at our Canterbury Wool stores, we held our usual weekly sale of the above. There was a fair attendance of the trade, and competition for everything was extremely animated, resulting in a total clearance of .wool, sheepskins, fat, hides, and tallow, at n considerable advance upon last week's prices. Our catalogue for the day consisted of 25 bales and 25 l«nirs .»f wool, locks and pieces. 2478 sheepskins. 129 bags rough fat, 81 hides and calfskins, and n few bagn and packages of tallow, all of which were disdoaed of at pi ices as under, viz:—Best Cross-bred skins make 2s 9ii lo 3s s*l ; 2nd quality, 2s 3tl to 2s 8 , nediuin. Is 5d to 2s 2d each. Best tneiinos made Is 9d to 2s 2d ; 2nd quality, Is 3d to Is 8d ; medium, 10d to Is 2d. Infeiior pelts both merino and cross-bred, 3d to 8d each. Best lamb's, 2s 6d to 3s each ; others from Is 4d to 2s 4d. Butchers' rough fat. to 2fd; 2nd quality, 2d to 2£d per lb, none at a less figure. Hides, 4|d per lb ; damaged hides, 2£d. Calfskins, 4d. Tal low 2d to 2£d per lb. Wool in bales:— merino 7£ri to B§d perlb; cross-bred, 7d to 7£d ; lambswool, 8d to Bijd; pieces, 6d ; locks and pieces, 2|d to sfd per lb.
