STOCK REPORT.
There was a good muster of dealers and others at the Aldington yards on Wednesday last. T! 8 stock comprised 8423 shesp, 494 cattle and 320 pigs. The competition for fat stock was very quiet, but stores were in a little better demand.
Sheep.—Extra prime fat cross-breds brought from lls 3d to 12s Gd ; medium and good do, 9s to 10s 3d. Prime merino realised 8s to 8s 3d. We quote mutton at 2d per lb. Lanibs were in large supply and consequently suffered a drop in prico. Prime lets reached 7s 9d ; others from 5s 9d to Gs 3d. Several line* of two four, and six-tooth cross-bred stores were knocked down at prices ranging' from 7s 9d to Bs. A large draft of sound mouthed merino wethers brought 4a sd, and n few old merino ewes, 3s 4d.
Cattle—Thero wa-i a large proportion o£ fat cattle, the supply, in f.ict, being greater than the requirements of tiie trade. As , a consequence, tlie sa!o dragged, and a drop in prices occurred. Prime beef cattle sold at rates equal to 18s Gd per 100!l>; medium quality, 17a Stores were in somewhat impiovud demand. Two and throt-year-old steers sold at from £4 5s to £5; do heifers, £4 15s ; calves, up to £1 9s.
Pigs.—The quality of the pigs yarded was very indifferent. They were from the North Island, and only sold up to £2 7s.
