AN APPEAL. To the Editor.
Sir, —" Bill, come nnd 'nve ft drain." "No, thanke ; tho 'drain.in Balgueriestreet is ono too many for mo." Rea'ly, Mr Editor, it is time something was done to make Balguerie-street a little more wholesome,' The stench from it is simply awful: a ton of decayed polecats would be odoriferous in comparison I I know that some of the residents are in the habit of emptying slops, offal, and other objectionable substances into it, and thus quite mistaking the proper use of the drain which will prpbably be the cause of fever' or some similar , calamity. Cannot some steps be taken to remedy the evil ? and Who are the proper persons to apply to ? Who is the Health Officer and Inspector of Nuisances ? Won't the Borough Council " arise and shine " ? I ehould like to
bury a few eouricillbrs blose to tlio drain— " like cures like."—Youni with profound
respect,
R. STEAW.
