WOOL SHEEPSKINS, HIDES AND TALLOW REPORT.

Messrs 11. Matson and Co report:—On r l hursday, at our Canterbury Wool Stores, we held our usual week!)' sale of the above. There was an average attendance of fell mongers, and no doubt owing to the telegrams received from England being considered su satisfactory, prices for wool and sheepskins here have hardene 1 considerably. Tlio same remarks apply to hides and calfskins, but fat and tallow was hardly so linn as usual. Our cataloguo consisted of 2604 sheepskins, 134 bags rough fat, 92 bides, a few bales and bags wool, al.no casks and packages of tallow; all lines being cleared at the following quotations, viz :—Butchers' best cross-bred skins made G* 3d to Gd 7d each ; second quality, 5s to Gs 2d each ; medium, 3s Gd to 4s lid each. Butchers' best merinos made 4s to 5s i).l each ; second quality, 4s to 4d lid each ; medium, 3d to 3s lid each. Butchers' best rough fat made 2± to 2sd per lb.; second quality, 2d to 2£d per )b. ; inferior, to per Ib. Hides, 3 9-1 Gd per lb. ; damaged, 2i-d. Calfskins, 4£d per lb. Tallow, ii: packages, 2|d, 2.} d, 2£d, to 2£d per !b. Wool from 7.1 to 9£<l per !b. ; pieces. 3d to s£d ; locks, and skin pieces, 2d to 3£d per lb.
