LITTLE RIVER SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the Little River School Committee was held in the schoolroom, Little River, on Saturday evening, the 24th inst. Present: Messrs Ralfe, (chairman), Allan, Johnston, Walters, Smith and Ulphert. minutes. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. SCHOOL HOUSE. The Chairman stated that he had written to the Board of Education as to new school house. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. A letter was read from the Board of Education, asking for more detailed in formation as to new Schoolhouse, requiring list of householders, number of children, also plan showing the district where the householders reside. From same, stating that the Board accepted Mr Allan's offer of the present master's house, and asking for further information as to the number of children in the district, &c. Erom same, requesting to know how many times the school room had been used during the year 1879 for other than school purposes. The chairman had replied forty-two times. With respect to the first letter, Mr' Allan remarked that the number of honseholders and children could be given, but that the plan now in possession of, the Committee is so old as to be unreliable as many sections have been bought and occupied since the plan was made. The Chairman was requested to write to the Board of Education as to the matter. | BOOK ACCOUNTS. j The Chairman stated that he had received an account from the master for books supplied to his children, he was always under the impression that books, &c, were to be sold at the same prices as the Government supplied them, but on enquiring into the matter he found he was charged from 100 to 150 per cent above that price. After a conversation on the matter, It was resolved on the motion of Mr Allan, seconded by Mr Walters, that Mr G. W. Westropp be requested to furnish a statement showing all books and stationery sold from May 11,1875, to date, together with the balance in hand, ASSISTANT MISTRESS. Mr Allan enquired if the assistant mistress had passed her examination. The Chairman said the result was not yet known. The Chairman reported having paid Mrs Munro the KUin of 30s for cleaning Schoolroom. The action of the chairman was approved. The meeting then terminated.
