PIGEON BAY ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of this Board was held in the Board's office, on the 3rd instant.
Present: Messrs Hay (Chairman), Budua, Pettigrew, Pitcaithly and Mcintosh. The minutes of last meeting having been confirmed, the correspondence was read as follows :—
From Mr H. Firmston requesting permission to erect a refreshment stand at the jetty to accomodate passengers by tha s.s. Akaroa. (Granted).
From the Secretary to the Treasury, intimating the remission of a subsidy o1 £63 12s lid to credit of Board's accounl at the Bank of New Zealand, Lyttelton.
From the same in reply to inquiry made, explaining the principle on which the surplus Land Revenue of Canterbury was allocated.
From the Akaroa and Wainui Road Board, re the above subject in reply to note sent.
The Clerk was also instructed to communicate with the Chairman of the Road Board Conference on the same subject.
From the County Clerk, intimating the appointment of Mr Win. Smith as poundkeeper. "
From Mr Fenton, C.E., certifying that Mr J. M'Halo was entitled to a progress payment.
From the Chief Surveyor re new road between Port Levy and Pigeon Bay.
From the manager of the Bank of New Zealand, Lyttelton, acknowledging receipt of £71 18s 4d to credit of Board's account. ''
From the assessor, with valuation list for 18'iO. ..'".'.:"
From the County Clerk, requesting to be furnished with the names added to the rate roll for 1880, with a view to completing the electoral roll. •
From Mr Fenton, requesting payment of £40, which was agreed to.
From the same, reporting unfavorably on Mr Woodill's Ist and 2nd sea-wall contracts.
From Mr Woocjill, enclosing account for above works.
Proposed by Mr Budua, and seconded by Mr M'lntosh, that Mr Woodill's orders in favor of Mr M'Kay and Mr A. Firmston be paid as far as the money at the disposal of the Board would admit. Agreed to. From Mr Fenton, reporting very favorably on Messrs. Coats worth and ilolloway's work on M'lntosh Bay contract.
From the same, reporting unfavorably on Mr Upton's Contract in Kay's gully. After some conversation on the stale of the Akaroa road, the following accounts were passed for payment: —
Wiggins and Co., printing and £ s. d. advertising ... 7 18 9 Surfaceman 10 3 0
M. M'Hale, progress payment 60 0 0 H. H. Fenton 40 0 0
In regard to the communication from the Bank of New Zealand, left over from last meeting, re current accounts, the Chairman was authorised to act in the matter as his judgment would advise. The Board then adjourned.
