In the Legislative Assembly last night, the Government Education Bill passed three readings on a division, of 42 to 6.

A Liberal mass meeting was held last night. Speeches were made by tho Right Hon. Sir Bryan O'Loughlan and; Graham Berry. The proceedings were of an orderly character.

Serious floods have occurred in the Richmond River. The streets of Casino are completely submerged, and boats are now engaged saving the lives and property of the inhabitants.

Brisbane, Feb. 25. It is announced that the Government of Queensland declined to join with New Zealand in protesting against the introduction of expirees from New Caledonia. Newcastle, Feb. 24. It is reported that the colliery proprietors who are now working under the vend scheme in this district intend to reduce the wages of their men, owing to the price of coal, by 25 per cent, in order that they may be in a position to compete with the collieries not bound by the vend rules. Melbourne, Feb. 25. A mass meeting of Liberals takes place here to-night. It is expected that fully 20,000 will-attend] At the trial of the Provincial and Suburban Bank directors the evidence for the prosecution has closed, and the Crown Prosecutor has commenced the delivery of his address.
