CORN EXCHANGE REPORT.
The following is the report of the Corn Exchange for the week ending-Friday evening. Oct. 24:— The weather is extremely favorable for -all kinds of farming operations. The reports of the forward state of the young ■ grain crops are' Confirmed from all quarters. "The prospect of an abundant harvest • seems good. Wheat.—There i 8 little or no business •to report in the wheat market; small parcels are eagerly taken at 4s 8d to 4s 10d ; very prime samples would Tealise a shade over these quotations ; medium. 4s 6d to 4s 8d ; and chickwheat at 3s 6d to 4s per bushel. Oats.—Prime milling cannot be quoted at over 2s 2d to 2s 4d • feed, 2s to 2s 2d ; with little or no demand. Barley.—Best samples are saleable at 5s to 5s 4d ; medium, 4s to 4s 9d. Potatoes.—The supply is very short, with an increased demand both locally and for export. The demand for seed is-very strong. Derwents in good shipping condition are worth £5 ; seed, from £3 15s to £4 10s. Grass Seed.—There is no business doing, i Cheese and Butter.—The market is not so firm. The former is nalea'ble at sjd to 6d ; and better at 7d to Bd.
