CORN EXCHANGE REPORT.
Corn exchange report for the week ending Friday evening, August 22, 1879 : — Business during the week has been of a most unimportant character. Wheat. —Good clean Tuscan, fit for seed, is not obtainable under 5s a bushel; milling parcels, in good sound condition, will command 4s 6d ; inferior milling, 4s to 4s 3d ; chick wheat, 3s 5d to 3s 7d. Oats. —A fair business has been done during the week, Avhich is purely of a local character. Feed oats are free of sale at 2s Gd to 2s 7d ; for seed purposes 2si 8d to 2s lOd is obtainable; inferior feed parcels are not worth more than 2s 4d ; good milling, 2s 8d to'2s 9J. Barley.—Prime mailing samples are now exceedingly scarce ; and for parcels as described 6s is readily obtainable ; medium quality. 4s Gd to 5s Gd ; for feed purposes. 2s Gd to 3s Gd per bushel. Potatoes. —Orders from the Intercolonial ports continue to . arrive. Prices remain steady at last week's quotations, with an upward tendency at the country stations. Blue Derwents are free of sale at £3 10s bags 6s Gd ; kidneys, £9 to £10 per ton. Grass Seed. —Thedemaudhas improved, but- not to any appreciable extent. Buyers are looking for first-class samples at very low figures. The weather is all that could be desired for sowing ; on this account the demand will continue for some time to come. First class town dressed samples are worth 5s Gd to 5s 9d per bushel; fanner's cleaned, 4s Gd to ss. Cheese and Butter.—There is no alteration to note. Prices stand at last week's quotation ; Gd to 6id per lb for the former, 8d to 9d for the latter.
