STOCK AND STATIONS.
Since our last week's report, the country has -experienced very severe rains and enow, with hard frost at night, which no doubt mil have the effect of cutting down the feed, but this must be expected at this season of the year. Consequently upon the frosty weather there will be a rise in tbe price of fat cattle and Bheep before many weeks. , At tbe Addington yards, on Wednesday, 5420 sheep, 263 head of cattle, and 150 pigs, were yarded. Sheep.—The sheep consisted princpally of fair to medium lines of fat cross-breds which realised from 9s to 10s 6d per head; a few prime quality lots sold as high as 14s. We quote to 2£d per lb, as an average for fat mutton, and 2|d per lb for prime lots. Cattle.—A few fair quality lines of beef came forward, but the biddings throughout were languid. Most of the fat cattle pens were occupied by medium lots of stores, which according to the rules of the yards should have been penned close to the sheds put aside for that class of stock. We quote from 25s to 27a 6d per 1001b for best beef.
