COMMERCIAL.
FROM THE LYTTELTON TIMES. Christchurch, Friday Evening. GRAIN AND PRODUCE. Business is generally without life, and what has passed through hands has not been of an extensive nature. Wheat has altered but little in value since ourlastreport. The feeling, if anything, has hardened, and quotations may be stated at 3s 8d for first class milling, and fair samples 3s 6d to 3s 7d. Oats.—Considerable sales have been made during the week at 2s 5d to 2s 6d for first-class feed, in cases where a clearance bad to be made. Barley has undergone no change, and the maket remains about the same as when we last wrote. Potatoes have beeu sold at 70s to 75s in small lots, but there is a greater disposition shown by farmers to do business. Flour.—The advance asked by some of the. millers has for the present, stopped business. Grass Seed.—Some large parcels of ryegrass have changed hands within the last few days at rates withheld. First-class seed may be quoted at 4s to 4s 3d. Dairy Produce. —Butter and cheese unchanged ; hams and bacon, 8d to B_d.
