CORN EXCHANGE REPORT.

The following is the report of the Corn Exchange for the week ending Friday -evening, May 16 :— All through the week there has been a marked dullness in the produce market. The hardness of the timeß is being keenly felt. Complaints are made far and Wide of the extreme pressure brought to hear by the banking institutions. The outcome of this is that trade is paralysed. Wheat.—Good milling samples, in large - parcels, may be quoted at 3s 6d, second .rate to average qualities 3s 4d to 3s sd, chickeriifeed 2s lOd to 3s. Oatß-r-The demand ia not so brisk. Prime milling qualities cannot be quoted At over 2s 8(1 to 2s 9d ; feed qualities at 2s 6d to 2s 7d per bushel. Barley.—.For prime quality 5s 9d to 6s is obtainable in this market; medium to inferior, 5s to 3s 4d. , Potato, es.—During the week a large business might have been done, but holders are still looking for higher rates. Sales have beerij effected at £3 5s to £3 7s 6d. Buyers can be found at £3 5s to £3 7s 6d at country stations. Cheese and Butter.—No change has taken place in the value of either of these articles of produce. Quotations will remain the same as last week, the former 6d to 6£d, for the latter lOd to lid. Grass Seed is still a drug, large quantities being offered but no buyers to be found, which.state of things will continue for two months more. As there is no business doing it is obvious quotations cannot be made.
