STOCK AND STATIONS.
On Wednesday, at Addington, 11,601 sheep and lambs, 553 cattle, 218 pigs were yarded for the week. Fat Sheep.—Of the large number of sheep brought forward, a very large proportion were of superior quality. Being far in excess of trade requirements, and boiling down 'operations having not yet Commenced, there was a serious decline on last-week's prices, which could not be sustained even by large withdrawals. We quote best mutton at from l|d to 2d ; inferior, l|d to l£d. Fat Lambs- were in over-supply, the best making 7s 9d. Fat Cattle.—The supply was again in excess of trade requirements, the usual local stock being supplemented by a draft of Wanganui bullocks, which, though of very superior quality, were outside weights, and failed to command the attention of the trade. With the over-supply prices receded to about 22s 6d to 245, for best quality summer weights. Heavy cattle and inferior ranged from'2ls to 22s 6d. Store Cattle - wore brought forward in large numbers, but failed to_ find purchasers, vendors - not being inclined to accept the prices offered, as they were far below last week's transactions. A large proportion of the cattle yarded passed out unsold. Store Sheep again met with doll sales being little enquired for. Pigs were in active demand, at fair prices.
