STOCK AND STATIONS.
During the past week the weather has been fine and cool, and greatly in favor of harvest operations, which are now in full swing throughout the Province. At Addington on Wednesday,4loo sheep and lambs, 398 cattle, 49 pigs, were yarded for the week.
Fat sheep.—ln better supply than last week, in some cases making extreme prices, equal to 2|d per lb. The bulk may be quoted at 2d to 2|d. Beef .—Some good lines of fair useful quality were brought forward, which were freely taken up by the trade at for best, 30s to 32s 6d; medium 27e 6d to 30s. Store Sheep.—Still dull of sale, with but few good lines in the market. Store Cattle.—ln increased demand, and sold readily at advanced prices especially forward bullocks and good descriptions of heifers, for which there is an active enquiry.
Messrs Wilkin and Co. report;— Wool— Since our last sale we have received between 400 and 500 bales. Sheepskins.— At our auction to-day 2989 skins comprised the catalogue. There was a very limited attendance of buyers, and the bidding very dull, prices being considerably lower than at any sale during the last twelve month. Crossbreds to medium, from 3s 8d to 5s Id each ; do, small and inferior, 2s, 2s lOd, to 3s 8d each. Merino, from 2s 4d to 4s each ; ditto, small and inferior, Is 6d, 2s, to 2s 4d each. Pelts, Id to lid eaoh. Lambskins, is 2d to Is lOd each. Tallow.—The attendance of buyers was only limited, and prices very uneven. Best clean well-saved, 2d to 2£d per lb ; second quality, l£d to 2d per lb ; inferior and heated, lj to Hd per lb. Hides.— There was a fair attendance of buyers, and competition was brisk, as follows: — Salted 3|d per lb ; damaged, 2£d per lb ; calfskins, cut and damaged, half-price.
