GRAIN AND PRODUCE

The past week has been marked by extreme quietness. Transactions have been limited to a degree, and have been mostly confined to the working off of old stocks. Wheat. —A few lots have been sold at prices ranging from 3s 6d to 3s 9d. No sales for forward delivery of the new crop have come under notice. . Oats. —Beyond a few small parcels for trade purposes, sales have been limited. The new crop is being offered at 3s 6d, but buyers are indisposed to meet sellers at this price. Sales could be made in quantity at 3s 3d for -early delivery. Potatoes are only been dealt with in small retail lots. Country reports state that the late rain has done a world of good to the crops. Flour remains at present quotations, £9 to £10. .. Grass Seed.—Large quantities of rye grass have been offered in the market during the week. Purchases, however, have been almost nil, buyers not feeling justified in giving the prices demanded by seller.. The quality of most of the seed, although good in colour, is light. For tip-top samples 6s can be got. Lower grades range from 5s to 5s 6d. Dairy Produce.—Butter continues at B|d to 8-fd, with a quiet business. Cheese finds ready buyers at 6d to 6£d.
