Elsewhere will be found a notification of the demise of Mrs Thomas Feltham, a lady who was an old resident of Akaroa, and who, by her kindliness of disposition and general urbanity commanded the respect and esteem of all classes. Mrs Feltham, with her husband, arrived here early in 1856, they having been appointed to the posts of mistress and master of the then Akaroa school, the school being at that time held, we believe, in the building now used by Mr Fenton as an office. After holding these appointments for a few months, the deceased lady and her husband resigned their respective situations, but subsequently Mrs Feltham opened a private school, in part of the residence of Mons. do Malmanche, which school she successfully carried onforsomoyears. Many among , us who are now sending their children to school were then scholars under Mrs Feltham's tuition. The deceased's lady's hospitality and genial welcome to visitors was so well known among us as to be almost proverbial. We sincerely sympathise with Mr Feltham in his bereavement.
