ASSESSMENT COURT, COUNTY OF AKAROA.
(Before Justin Aylmer, Esq., Judge.) Mr E. C. Latter was present on behalf of the County Council, and Mr A. I. M'Gregor for the Akaroa and Wainui Road Board. ■ Mr J. D. Garwo®d applied to have his name placed upon the County Electoral roll as owner of the property known as Garwood's House on the Hill Top. The application was granted, and Mr Garwood's name inserted.
Mr Jas. Wilson, Clerk to the Little River Road Board, was present to support his objection to the names of W, Montgomery, H. W. D. Watkins, H. G.Watkins, R. H. Wood, and S. Giles being on the roll of the Little River Riding. MiLatter said the names were correctly entered. The boundaries of the riding extended beyond those of the Road Board district. The objections were disallowed. Mr D.- Wright, Clerk to the Okain's Road Board, was present to request that
the name of Mr Richard James beinfierted on the roll. The Thame had previously been on the roll Bros., but the property was now divided. -'Mr Latter explained that he had given eyery publicity to the fact that the names of firms could not be placed on the roll. He had no objection to offer to the name being now inserted. The alteration was accordingly made.
Mr Wright further pointed out that owing to a clerical error in tho district roll, the name of James Gordon had been omitted, and that of James Hammond inserted, whereas the latter should have been expunged and the name of the former left on the roll. Tlie alteration was allowed, and made.
The Court then adjourned,
