AKAROA RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Friday, April 26. (Before Justin Aylmer, Esq., R.M.) Civil Case.
11. Wagstaff v. A. I. McGregor, on behalf of the Borough Council.
Mr Nalder appeared on behalf of Messrs Waeckerle, Smickell, O'Reilly, Cullen, Meeoli, and Billons, members of the Borough Council. This was a case to recover the sum of £25. Mr McGregor, acting for the Council, requested an adjournment as there had not been much time given to enable the Council to meet since the serving of the summons, and at a special meeting called for this purpose on the previous evening there had been no quorum. Mr Nalder opposed the adjournment. Mr McGregor failed to understand Mr Nalder's position in the case, or why he was present. Mr Nalder returned ihe compliment, and the proceedings from that point became wrapt in a veil of mystery which our. reporter, a ;n;in of nervous temperament and retiring disposition, dared not attempt to penetrate. Finally, the case was adjourned to next. The Court{hen adjourned. Monday, April 29. (Before Justin Ayltner Esq., K. M.) DRUNK AND DISORDERLY. William Boyle was charged with this offence on Sunday, the 28th instant. This being his third appearance within three months, he was sentenced to 48 hours' imprisonment, without the option of a fine. The Court then adjourned.
