AKAROA AND WAINUI ROAD BOARD.

& Saturday, Apeil 27. Present — Messrs Piper (Chairman), Duxbury, Curry, Shadboit, and Williams.

Mr Eugene Lelievre waited on the Board with regard to the compensation for the laud taken up by the Long Bay Road diversion through his property. After some discussion, Mr Lelievre withdrew, ;md subsequently put in a Setter on the subject, a reference to which appears further on.

Mr F. Libeau was present to obtain an explanation on certain charges in- connection with the purchase and stoppage of the old Head of the Bay road. Mr L. Perham waited on the Board in reference to his land at Barry's Bay, CORRESPONDENCE. FromH. T. Worsle} , -, asking that specifications might be drawn out for the work at the upper portion of the Grehan Valley road.

From Eugene Lelievre, stating that as lie had agreed to dispose of the land taken up by the Long Bay road at £1& per acre with the understanding that the pegs were on the lower side of the road, and as lie found that this was not the case, he would now object to the road being proceeded with unless further compensation was allowed.

It was resolved that Mr Lelievre be written to and informed that the Board

hold Mm to his agreement, it being shewn that the pegs are in the right place, and that no more land is being taken than was at first agreed upon. From W. Kenny applying for a progress payment on his contract on the Long Bay road, arid also requesting to be informed of the amount of fencing required, so that he could order the timber. From J. Woodill, making application for payment on his contract on the same road., The Clerk was instructed to reply that the contractor should put himself in communication with the Engineer when the road is in a finished state. Some discussion then ensued relative to the grade of the Okain's Bay Eoad diversion through Mr Pipers land, it being resolvod to leave the grade as it is at present.
