CRICKET.
A cricket match, to inaugurate the season, took place at German Bay, where ground had been kindly lent for the purpose by W. G. Inman, Esq., on Saturday last. . The number of players was considerably increased by the attendance of T. S. Baker, Esq., and the members of his school. Sides were picked- by Messrs Baker and C. Barker, the latter winning the toss, and electing to take first turn at thewickets. Some very fair cricket ensued, considering the unfavourable condition of the ground, and it is a matter for regret that a game of this kind could not be got up every Saturday. Mr Barker's side came off victorious, winning by one innings and a few runs. Subjoined is the score: — Mr Barker's Side.—First Innings. A. K. Harlock, b Hewlings 3 J.
