W. Mounti'ort re the architect's fees for Parsonage, the Churchwardens being instructed" to write for a detailed statement of account.

It was resolved—"That the vestry of St. Peter s, Akaroa, being reluctantly compelled to accept the resignation of A. R. In wood, Esq., as organist, desire to convey to him their thanks for his valuable services, and to wish him success and happiness wherever he may be." Committee :— u Agreed, that good cause has been shewn for the renewal of the former grant of £6 per quarter to the Parish of Akaroa, aud that it bo renewed accordingly." ' Resolved.—"That the Vestry, in view of the unsatisfactory state of the books containing the Pari.vh accounts, when handed over by the late to the present Churchwarden, take the various balances to the credit of the several accounts, as stated, and hold the present Churchwarden responsible for the accounts only from the date at which he took office." Tt : was resolved—"That Mr Gates be appointed organist, at the salary of £20 per annum, from the Ist November, and that the Rev. Chairman be instructed to communicate with Mr Gates respecting the appointment." Mr Wagstaff explained that he had had some circulars printed, for the purpose of forwarding to members and those attending the services at St. Peter's, and had every hope that the appeal wonld be satisfactorily answered. He was glad to observe a growing interest in Church matters. The appeals that had been made had been responded to liberally, both as regarded providing the requisite funds for settling with their late Pastor, and also for the special offertory in behalf of the Indian Famine Relief Fund. He endeavoured to impress on the members present, however, that they must not relax in their efforts, there still being a balance due to the Rev. W. H. Cooper, and also to the builder of the Church extension, besides several other accounts. He would suggest that after the circulars were distributed, the parish be divided into districts, each vestryman taking a portion, and would urge on them the necessity of having their hearts in the work, and of pushing it to the utmost of their power. The action taken by Mr Wagstaff was fully endorsed by the members of the vestry present. The meeting then terminated.
