AKAROA REGATTA COMMITTEE MEETING.

A meeting of the Akaroa Regatta Committee took place, on the evening of the 6th inst., at Bruce's Hotel. Present— Messrs. C. W. Bridge, Wilkin, Lacoste, Black, Nicholls, J. D. Garwood, Beecher, Bushel 1, St. John, J. Bruce, W. Wood, Scarborough, and the Secretary.

The Secretary having notified that the Borough Council had given permission to the committee to sub-let the Reserve, opposite Bruce's Hotel and Messrs Garwood and Co.'s store, on the 16th of December, 1877,

Mi Bushell proposed, and Mr Lacoste seconded '"That the Reserve be divided into three parts, and that Mr J. H. Wood, the lessee, of the wharf, be written to, asking permission for the committee to use and sub-let that portion of the Wharf Reserve, adjoining the other Reserve, and that these parts be sold by public auction." The motion was carried. Mr Garwood proposed, Mr Beecher seconding, "That Messrs 'Bridge and Bushell conduct the sale of these plats."— Carried. Mr Garwood moved, ■ and Mr Nicholls seconded, " That Mr Black's offer, of the use of his section of land between the Peninsula Bakery and Mr Annand's be accepted, with thanks."—.Carried, . It was resolved that the Secretary confer with the local merchants and others, with reference to their canvassing for subsciptions from the firms they deal with. Also that the Secretary write to the owners of the steam launch, asking the charge for chartering the launch for the whole of the regatta day. Also that the Secretary advertise in the Akaroa Mail, on Tuesday, the 9th inst., that a special meeting of the committee will be held on that date, for the purpose of drawing up the programme of this year's regatta. The meeting then adjourned.
